Going on a yoga holiday or retreat can be life enhancing, even life changing. It gives you time and space away from day to day life to immerse yourself in a subject that can take you beyond your limitations and expectations. This is another lovely quote from a recent client who had a very positive experience of his very first yoga holiday:

What a wonderful oasis of calm.  Everything was so lovely, lovely people, fabulous food, sunshine and great yoga.  I’m hooked!

Accommodation for May, July and October Residential Retreats

Quinta Mimosa is a long running retreat and holiday centre, situated just 20 minutes from Faro Airport, only 5 minutes from the historic town of Loule and 15 minutes from the beautiful Algarve coast. The staff there have been hosting yoga retreats for over 20 years and is well-known for their warmth & hospitality. Rachel has been coming to Quinta Mimosa since 1993 and it was here that she ran her first Portugal Iyengar Yoga Retreat in 2003. Accommodation is arranged in pretty individual cottages, all with twin rooms with private bathrooms and each of the three areas onsite has a swimming pool. There are gardens, fruit orchards and a beautiful yoga studio, fully equipped and with glass doors opening out onto the terrace.  Meals are taken outside under the wisteria and the centre has a rich history of visiting yoga groups who have been coming here since the late 1980’s.  Quinta Mimosa is 6km from the amazing beaches of the Algarve and transport with the friendly and English speaking taxi drivers is very easy to arrange.

FOOD AND DRINK
Saturday to Thursday lunch is provided along with 5 evening meals beginning with our welcome meal on Friday evening.  Special diets can be catered for to the best of Quinta Mimosa’s abilities. The menu is vegetarian but meat eaters needn’t be disappointed as the food is delicious and two evenings are free for everyone to appreciate local cuisine. The cottages also have catering facilities so you can prepare your own snacks in-house if you need extra sustenance. Alcohol is not prohibited and wine lovers will be delighted at the range of local wines at very reasonable prices that are available. Tea and coffee is provided.

YOGA SCHEDULE AND STUDIO
From Saturday to Thursday, there will be two yoga sessions from 8.30am to 12.30pm (8.30am to 10.30am yoga asana followed by a break before 11am to 12.30pm restorative and pranayama) The afternoons are free to fit in self-practice or optional excursions – a trip to Loule or any of the nearby historic towns or magnificent beaches. The yoga will be taught in the fully equipped studio at Quinta Mimosa. In addition, there will be two optional silent guided practice sessions during the week. All equipment, including mats is provided. The classes are designed to be progressive so we start off gradually and build up our practice during the week. Rachel does recommend that beginners attend yoga classes beforehand for at least 6 weeks to really get the most out of their holiday.

MASSAGE TREATMENTS
Quinta Mimosa offer a range of excellent massage treatments already road tested by Rachel and many of her returning guests! They range from standard Swedish massage to Sound Bath healing sessions and all the therapists are highly trained and professional, used by Quinta Mimosa for many years.
