The Details
The idyllic and remote setting for this yoga retreat provides a stunning and therapeutic backdrop to the healing powers of Morocco and the Atlas Mountains.
Yoga with Rachel
There will be morning and evening sessions to suit those with a few months to many years of experience. As the Yoga Shalas are fully equipped with Iyengar props including wall ropes, we will explore a wide range of asana, pranayama and restorative practices throughout the week. One day will have the afternoon free so that you can rest or explore and we will finish the week with a closing circle to share our experiences.
2026 Date: November 28th to December 4th
Luxury accommodation
Bab Zouina has several ecological buildings spread across its wide domain, with a total of 24 rooms that can host up to 50 people. The buildings are inspired by beautiful traditional earth architecture with various terraces and peaceful places that allow guests to relax. All rooms include ensuite / adjacent bathrooms with complimentary towels. For those wanting to take in the beautiful landscape, there are many lounging areas designed with authentic Moroccan materials as well as a cozy fire pit.
Full-board
All the meals are prepared with love and care, using local produce as well as from their own vegetable garden. They offer amazing Moroccan, Berber and Middle Eastern cuisine that can cater to any food constraint including vegan, gluten, or lactose free.
The bread is baked on a daily basis in a traditional Moroccan earth oven. The kitchen staff also squeezes delicious fruit juices, so you get your shot of vitamins. On top of this, tea, coffee, fresh and dried fruits are available throughout the day.
Facilities
Yoga Shalas – Bab Zouina has 2 spacious yoga shalas, fully equipped with mats and all necessary supports including blocks, ropes, belts, blankets, Iyengar chairs, etc. They also have 2 rooftops where we can practice yoga while facing the magnificent Atlas Mountains — amongst the chirping birds and golden sunlight.
Garden – When walking through the garden, the stone trails, framed with thyme and lavender hedges, lead you to browse lantana bushes, rose trees, agave plants and exotic flowers. During the day, the garden transforms magically with the alternation of light. You can catch both the dazzling sunrise and sunset from the rooftop terraces, while the night reveals a clear starry sky framed by the Atlas Mountains.
The garden owes a lot to the amazing Swedish artist and landscaper, Catharina von Unge. While designing Bab Zouina’s garden, she tastefully combined the British aesthetic with the rusticity and simplicity of the Ourika valley.
Activities
Pool, Petanque & Tennis – The pool is available for those who enjoy swimming & sunbathing. The pétanque pitch provides a nice space for entertainment amongst friends. Whereas the tennis court offers fun competition for experienced players (please bring your own racket and appropriate shoes for clay courts).
And More – Upon request, Bab-Zouina can organize well-being and cultural activities for you. Their well-being activities include hammam, oil massage as well as shiatsu sessions. Cultural activities comprise cooking class, bread making, calligraphy sessions, pottery workshops, hiking, historical tour of Marrakesh, visit of local Berber markets, etc.
Hiking in the Atlas Mountains - And if you want to add on or extend your stay, Karim the owner of Bab-Zouina organises year round 4-day hikes in the Atlas Mountains! See here for full details here. Hiking Atlas PDF.
